There’s been an important development in the #JR4NHS campaign to secure urgent legal action for our National Health Service. Read the latest update here. This  whole issue of ACOs (Accountable Care Organisations) is very complicated but the #JR4NHS campaign explains in language that everyone can understand what’s being planned for our NHS. My understanding is…… Continue reading Have you seen the latest update from #JR4NHS

Does our NHS have enough beds?

We know there is a crisis in our NHS. If there wasn’t a crisis why has all elective surgery been cancelled throughout January? We know patient demand of our NHS is increasing. UK population increase 62.77 million in 2010 66 million in 2017 and, of course, don’t forget the baby boomers are getting older and…… Continue reading Does our NHS have enough beds?

Here’s my update to What’s happening to our National Health Service? The #JR4NHS case  was filed in the High Court on December 12th. However, the administrative court office has a backlog and told our solicitors that the office would not be able to issue proceedings until our case had got to the front of the queue. In…… Continue reading More about what’s happening to our NHS.

What’s happening to our National Health Service?

When you’re a patient it’s difficult to understand what’s going on in our National Health Service in 2017. I have the greatest respect for the doctors, nurses, technical and support staff I’ve encountered during my cancer journey but am utterly baffled by the way the system works. This video from The King’s Fund tries to explain…… Continue reading What’s happening to our National Health Service?

Your National Health Service in 2017 #NHS

69 years ago this country was facing a war-weariness, an economy in disarray, the end of empire, a nation negotiating its place in the world, a need for massive house building. At that point, this country stepped-up, and took a bold and optimistic view. Not only on a whole range of social topics, but about…… Continue reading Your National Health Service in 2017 #NHS

Earlier this week I got my sixth cycle of chemotherapy at the Cancer Unit of my local district hospital. Once again I’ve had the very best of treatment administered by a team of wonderful specialist nurses. Now, I’m having 48 hours of chemotherapy at home and  a community nurse will come and take the pump…… Continue reading Save one life you’re a hero. Save 100 lives you’re a nurse. #NHS

Blueberries: a great porridge topper and good for you too!

Porridge is a great way to start the day especially with a healthy topper. Sometimes I include a drizzle of honey and occasionally a sprinkle of cinnamon. Today I added a few blueberries to my porridge and they were delicious. I know that a handful of blueberries make a great contribution to your 5-a-day. The NHS website…… Continue reading Blueberries: a great porridge topper and good for you too!
